Amulya Vishwanath, who dedicated seven years to overseeing product marketing for NVIDIA’s robotics platforms, asserts that the field of robotics is currently experiencing its “Lego era.” She indicates that fundamental components such as actuators, robotic hands, software, and safety standards are still undergoing significant reconstruction. This perspective contrasts sharply with the views of those who contend that robotics is on the verge of its “ChatGPT moment,” a reference to the launch of the remarkably proficient chatbot in late 2022. Earlier this year, General Intuition CEO Pim de Witte remarked to Equity that a singular general foundation model could render much of the current specialized robotics work obsolete, marking a pivotal moment in the industry.
In a recent episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, Dominic-Madori Davis engaged with Vishwanath to explore her initial investment strategies as the founder and managing partner of Techable VC. Their discussion also delved into her experiences as one of the pioneering women executives to emerge from Nvidia and establish her own early-stage firm focused on investing in physical AI across various sectors, including robotics, materials science, and life sciences.
